A quality pair of pole dance heels is an investment. With proper care, they'll last through hundreds of training sessions and performances. Here's how to keep them in peak condition.
Cleaning Patent Heels
Patent synthetic leather is one of the easiest materials to maintain:
- Wipe down after every use with a soft, damp cloth
- For stubborn marks, use a small amount of mild soap on the cloth — never apply directly to the heel
- Dry immediately with a clean cloth — don't let moisture sit on the surface
- Buff with a dry microfiber cloth to restore the gloss
Avoid: Alcohol-based cleaners, acetone, abrasive cloths, or prolonged water exposure. These will damage the patent finish.
Cleaning the Outsole
The non-slip rubber outsole can accumulate dust and debris that reduces grip. Clean it regularly:
- Use a damp cloth or soft brush to remove debris
- For sticky residue, a small amount of rubbing alcohol on the outsole only (not the upper) works well
- Allow to dry fully before use
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight — UV exposure yellows patent finishes over time
- Keep in a dust bag or box to prevent scratches
- Don't stack heavy items on top of your heels — it can deform the shape
- Store upright or on a heel rack to maintain the heel's integrity
When to Replace
Signs it's time for a new pair:
- The outsole is worn smooth and no longer provides grip
- The insole cushioning has compressed and no longer provides support
- The upper is cracking or peeling significantly
- The heel structure feels unstable
