The Core Difference
Stilettos: Thin, tapered heel post, minimal or no platform. All height concentrated at the heel, steep foot incline, narrow base of support.
Platform heels: Raise both heel and ball of foot, reducing effective incline. Wider platform sole provides larger base of support.
Head-to-Head
- Comfort: Platform heels win. A 15cm platform heel is more comfortable for extended wear than a 10cm stiletto.
- Balance: Platform heels win. Wider sole = more floor contact during turns and dynamic movement.
- Visual impact: Platform heels win for most performance contexts. Height creates dramatic leg line that reads from a distance.
