Bodysuit Size Guide

Performance bodysuits are cut to move with your body — but only if you get the size right. This guide walks you through every measurement you need and how to choose between sizes when you're on the border.

The 4 Key Measurements

01

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your chest. Keep the tape parallel to the floor and snug but not compressing. Wear a non-padded bra or no bra. This is the primary measurement for bodysuit tops.

02

Waist

Measure around your natural waist — the narrowest point of your torso, usually 1 inch above your navel. Do not suck in. This determines how the bodysuit fits through the midsection.

03

Hips

Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, usually 7–9 inches below your natural waist. Keep the tape parallel to the floor. Critical for one-piece fit through the lower body.

04

Torso Length

Measure from the top of your shoulder, down over your bust, through the crotch, and back up to the top of your shoulder. This full-body measurement determines whether a bodysuit will be too short or too long in the body.

General Size Reference

Size Bust (in) Waist (in) Hips (in)
XS 32–33 24–25 34–35
S 34–35 26–27 36–37
M 36–37 28–29 38–39
L 38–40 30–32 40–42
XL 41–43 33–35 43–45
2XL 44–46 36–38 46–48

Always check the individual product size chart — measurements vary by style and fabric.

Stretch Fabric Fit Advice

High Stretch (Spandex / Lycra)

Size down if you're between sizes. High-stretch fabrics accommodate 2–4 inches of stretch. A snug fit in the dressing room becomes a perfect performance fit on stage.

Medium Stretch (Jersey / Mesh)

Size to your measurements. Medium-stretch fabrics have less give. If you're between sizes, go up — especially if your hips are larger relative to your bust.

Low Stretch (Velvet / Structured)

Always size up if between sizes. Low-stretch fabrics have minimal give. Prioritize your largest measurement (usually hips or bust) when choosing your size.

When You're Between Sizes

Bust larger, waist smaller

Size to your bust. Most bodysuits have more stretch through the waist than the chest.

Hips larger, bust smaller

Size to your hips. A bodysuit that's too tight across the hips will ride up and restrict movement.

Torso too short / too long

Check the torso length in the product specs. A bodysuit that's too short will pull down at the shoulders or gap at the crotch.

Performance Fit Tips

Always do a full movement test before performing — bend, stretch, kick, and invert if your act requires it. A bodysuit that fits standing still may gap, ride up, or restrict movement during performance.

Use fashion tape or body adhesive at the neckline and leg openings if your act involves inversions or high kicks.
