Lace Front Wig | Performance Glossary
A lace front wig features a sheer lace panel along the front hairline — typically 1"–4" deep — into which individual hairs are hand-tied. When the lace is trimmed and adhered to the skin, it creates the illusion of a natural hairline, making the wig appear to grow from the scalp.
Lace Front vs. Full Lace
| Lace Front | Full Lace | |
|---|---|---|
| Lace coverage | Hairline only | Entire cap |
| Parting | Front only | Anywhere |
| Price | More affordable | More expensive |
| Best for | Most performances | Updos, versatile styling |
Performance Notes
For stage performance, lace fronts are the standard choice — they look natural from the audience and photograph well. Always use wig adhesive or tape to secure the lace before performing. Sweat can loosen adhesive, so test your hold during a full rehearsal before the show.
